Thank you for your kind letter. You told me that you and most of you classmates went out for a three-day trip. I really think it fun. Now let me tell you something about a speech contest, which I have taken part in.

The contest was held at the playground last Saturday morning, 7:00a.m. The panel is made up of 5 English teachers from our school, all of whom were experienced. Moreover, a total number of 20 competitors came from we Grade 2. It was made a rule that the top 3 competitors would be awarded. It is a great competition and all the participants perform well. I was so lucky that I won the first place.

Last week, I took part in an English speech contest which was held by our teachers. There were twelve students in the final contest. I was one of them. However, when I stood in front of all judges and students, I was extremely nervous. My mind was totally empty. Then I took a deep breath to relax myself and started my speech. The result was not as good as I expected, but I preferred to regard it as a challenge to myself, whose process was the most important for me. I can learn a lot from this contest. I am sure I will be better next time.

The Dream Came True

I wanna welcome everybody here in this cheer team. Thank you for coming here this morning to stand on my side cheering me on. It’s my dream to have the opportunity to challenge all the foreign athletes to the championship at this great occasion: 2008 Olympic Games. Now, the dream came true. As an athlete of China, I’m here to win the gold medal of orienteering for our motherland.

I’m so proud of being one of the best players in the world. But could you believe I had been a lazy girl when I was in Junior High. I’m not kidding! At that time, running was my last favorite. I really don’t know how to describe the first time I was on the track. It was horrible. When I started to run, I was simply out of breath. And while I touched the finishing line, I really didn’t know if I was still alive. It’s so funny, huh? But it’s true, I did.

Well, something happened and changed the situation. We won the right of holding the Olympic Games in 2008. After that, sports became a kind of game in campus. And there are many sports clubs in school. One day someone asked me:“are you gonna try one of those?”First I felt so wired.

“Try to get into sports clubs? Are you kidding?” I said. And she goes: “Why not?? It’s not hard at all, and so fascinating!” So I did tried one and I was so lucky to become one of those who did orienteering. That is a fantastic sport! You need to run and find where to go just by using a map and a compass. It’s wasn’t popular in China at first. But when we heard it might become a new event in 2008, we did practiced hard, and aimed to win the first Champion of orienteering in the world. When we practiced, there were a lot of troubles. You know, sometimes you need to go with your feet, but sometimes you need to go with your heart. In some situations, we faced the difficulties and problems. And we need to solve that through teamwork and strong willpower. So we can run faster, go higher and be stronger. That is what we say—Olympic spirit.

Now the dream came true. I’m standing here with all my body and my heart put in sports. So do the people from all over the world to HERE at the Olympic Games. It’s the Olympic Games that make us together. We are here for a big day of sport; we are here for a dream of sports. We are here for a spirit of sport that encourages us to face the difficulties of today and tomorrow.

我坐在后台,看到一个个上场的选手,开始变得紧张起来,心犹如小鹿乱撞,手心也开始冒汗。旁边的哥哥不断安慰我,让我深呼吸,还轻轻握住我的手鼓励我。

在哥哥的鼓励下,我紧张的心情终于得到放松。该上台了,我自信地站在麦克风前,向各位评委老师以及观众们致敬。我清了清嗓子准备我豪迈的开场,突然,我举起的右手凝滞住,嗓子因吃惊而发出扭曲的怪音,瞪得溜圆的眼睛里,瞳孔紧缩。我的道具呢?忘了!完蛋了,就这样退场吗?不行!回去拿?还是硬着头皮讲?当我尴尬得不知所措时,班主任老师拿着道具微笑着朝我走来,并自然地将道具递进我的手里。

我怀着既期待又紧张的心情准备,在练习的过程中,英语老师为了要我适应计时铃声,控制好说完故事的时间,模拟了比赛铃声响起的各种突发状况。 当我第一次练习听到催促的铃声,我心想:“天啊!超过时间会被评审扣分!”顿时,我难过得流下伤心的眼泪。老师频频安慰我,要我心平气和熟悉比赛的气氛。

经过反覆的练习,我渐渐的适应铃声所带给我的影响,并且能驾轻就熟的把握时间,最后,我终于能在规定时间内说完故事,也得到更多的自信。

第三个,第四个,第五个……个个讲得绘声绘色。终于轮到了我们班的第二个同学——邹千了,我非常敬佩她这次比赛中的表现,因为她面对着这么多的同学和老师,也能面不改色心不跳。她演讲时那昂首挺胸,威武的姿态和那时而悲伤时而欢快的声音,让我着了迷,让我随着她一起悲伤、欢乐。

大家上午好!我今天演讲的题目是《借力新课标新高考,培养英语核心素养》。

英语是当今世界广泛使用的语言,是国际交流与合作的重要沟通工具,是思想与文化的重要载体。学习和使用英语对吸取人类优秀文明成果、借鉴外国先进科学技术、传播中华文化、增进中国与其他国家的相互理解具有重要的意义和作用。为了促进英语的高效教学,新课程标准提出英语核心素养的先进理念。

英语学科核心素养是学生在接受相应学段英语课程教育的过程中,逐步形成和提升的适应个人终身发展和社会发展需要的必备品格和关键能力,综合表现为四大素养,由语言能力、文化品格、思维品质和学习能力组成。就其关系而言,语言能力是基础要素,文化品格是价值取向,思维品质是心智表征,学习能力是发展条件。英语学科核心素养涵盖了知识、能力和态度,四大核心素养相互渗透,融合互动,协调发展,是所有学生应具有的、学以致用的基础性综合素养。

为了更好提高落实新课标,提高学生的核心素养,我结合核心素养的四个方面谈一下自己的体会和建议。

一、探究课程内容,提升语言能力

语言能力是指在社会情境中,以听、说、读、看、写等方式理解和表达意义、意图和情感态度的能力。英语语言能力构成英语学科核心素养的基础,是学生发展文化品格、思维品质和学习能力的依托。英语语言能力的提高有助于学生拓宽文化视野,丰富思维方式,在全球化背景下开展跨文化交流。

教师要深入研读语篇,把握教学核心内容。研读语篇就是读者对语篇的主题、内容、文体结构、语言特点、作者观点等做深入的解读。教师要积极研究如何在教学中落实培养学生学科核心素养的目标,探索有效的教与学的方式,努力实践以主题意义为引领的英语学习活动观,实施深度教学。教师必须深入研究课程内容,提炼重点,设计有效的教学活动,通过听说读写训练,提高学生的语言能力。

二、发掘优秀文化思想,培养文化品格

文化品格是指对中外文化的理解和对优秀文化的认同,是学生在全球化背景下表现出的文化意识、人文修养和行为取向。文化品格体现英语学科核心素养的价值取向。文化品格的培育有助于学生树立世界眼光,增强国家认同感和家国情怀,学会做人做事,成长为有文化修养和社会责任感的人。

落实立德树人根本任务,培养学生英语学科核心素养。教师应当充分把握教材的编写理念、设计思路应突出英语学科的育人价值,有机融入社会主义核心价值观,将立德树人的根本任务落到实处。要紧密围绕、依据学科核心素养来确立教材内容,无论是语篇和主题的选择还是相应的教学活动设计,都要体现对学科核心素养的培养价值,有利于学生发展语言能力,形成良好的文化品格和思维品质,学会学习,树立正确的价值观和审美观,提高学生的文化品格。

三、创设丰富多彩活动,促进思维品质升华

思维品质指人的思维个性特征,反映其在思维的逻辑性、批判性、创造性等方面所表现的能力和水平。思维品质体现英语学科核心素养的心智发展。思维品质的发展有助于提升学生分析问题和解决问题的能力,从跨文化的视角观察和认识世界,对事物作出正确的价值判断,促进学生的深度学习。

具体而言,学习理解类活动主要指基于语篇的学习活动。以解决问题为目的,鼓励学生从语篇中获得新知,通过梳理、概括、整合信息,建立信息间的关联,形成新的知识结构,感知并理解语言所表达的意义和语篇所承载的文化价值取向。迁移创新类活动主要指超越语篇的学习活动。通过自主、合作、探究的学习方式,综合运用语言技能,进行多元思维,创造性地解决陌生情境中的问题。英语学习活动的设计应注意.情境创设要尽量真实,注意与学生已有的知识和经验建立紧密联系,力求直接、简洁、有效。教师要善于利用多种工具和手段,思维导图或信息结构图,引导学生通过自主与合作相结合的方式,完成对信息的获取与梳理、概括与整合、内化与运用,教会学生在零散的信息和新旧知识之间建立关联,归纳和提炼基于主题的新知识结构。

四、分组合作教学,培养学习能力

四、掌握正确的记忆方法。英语是一门记忆很强的学科,要大量积累词汇。很多同学最烦记单词,总是抱怨记不住,以致于丧失了信心。这是因为你没有了解到记忆的规律,没有掌握记单词的技巧。现在我给大家介绍几种方法。

1、及时记忆法,要求上课时认真听讲,争取趁热打铁,当堂记住。

There is a story about house and trees. It is said that a man’s house was surrounded by a lot of trees. Though the wind was strong, that man could have a good rest under the trees. How comfortable the life was! One day, that man wanted to enlarge his house, so he cut down all the trees. Then the autumn came without the protection. The strong wind blew the roof of the house into the sky. The whole house was gone with the wind. What a pity! But that’s the price people have to pay for destroying in the ecology balance. People shouldn’t be short-sighted. Protecting the environment is everyone’s task.

As you know, there are four kinds of pollution. They are air pollution, water pollution, waste pollution and noise pollution. But what can we do to solve the pollution?I think, firstly, we can make cars that don’t pollute the environment. We can ask companies to use modern clean technology. In some big cities, we can limit the number of cars. Secondly, we can try to use less water and make sure that we do not pollute the water. We can tell factories that they are not allowed to pour waste water into the lakes and rivers. Thirdly, we should not throw rubbish in parks and cities. We can pick up rubbish if we see it. We can put more rubbish bins in our parks and cities. Fourthly, we can live far from the noise and make the laws to limit the noise.

The air, water and the whole atmosphere directly influenced our lives, such as the air, people may cough and it will lead to cancer. So we must try our best to keep the world clean and tidy. 英语学科核心素养是学生在接受相应学段英语课程教育的过程中,逐步形成和提升的适应个人终身发展和社会发展需要的必备品格和关键能力,综合表现为四大素养,由语言能力、文化品格、思维品质和学习能力组成。就其关系而言,语言能力是基础要素,文化品格是价值取向,思维品质是心智表征,学习能力是发展条件。英语学科核心素养涵盖了知识、能力和态度,四大核心素养相互渗透,融合互动,协调发展,是所有学生应具有的、学以致用的基础性综合素养。

为了更好提高落实新课标,提高学生的核心素养,我结合核心素养的四个方面谈一下自己的体会和建议。

一、探究课程内容,提升语言能力

我校的课改:问题引领,学案导学,其实在学习能力的培养方面已经具有了相对成熟的经验。为培养学生自主、合作、探究的学习能力,教师要为学生创设支持和激励的学习环境。在教学中,教师要有意识地给予指导;课中组织小组合作学习与探究活动;课后布置适量的拓展性作业。此外,教师要在教学中帮助学生学会选择适合自己的学习方法和策略,主动参与学习活动并尝试自我评价和同伴互评,养成自我反思的习惯,在体验自主学习、合作学习和探究式学习的过程中学会学习。教师要在教学过程中帮助学生形成适合自己的学习方法和策略。教师也可以引导学生交流学习方法和策略,互帮互学。教师要引导学生养成自我反思的习惯,反思自己的学习兴趣和动机、学习方法和策略、语言能力现状和发展进程,帮助学生不断发展自主学习能力,成为有责任担当的学习者。

OF WHAT USE is a college training? We who have had it seldom hear the question raised might be a little nonplussed to answer it offhand. A certain amount of meditation has brought me to this as the pithiest reply which I myself can give: The best claim that a college education can possibly make on your respect, the best thing it can aspire to accomplish for you, is this: that it should help you to know a good man when you see him. This is as true of women's as of men's colleges; but that it is neither a joke nor a one-sided abstraction I shall now endeavor to show.

What talk do we commonly hear about the contrast between college education and the education which business or technical or professional schools confer? The college education is called higher because it is supposed to be so general and so disinterested. At the schools you get a relatively narrow practical skill, you are told, whereas the colleges give you the more liberal culture, the broader outlook, the historical perspective, the philosophic atmosphere, or something which phrases of that sort try to express. You are made into an efficient instrument for doing a definite thing, you hear, at the schools; but, apart from that, you may remain a crude and smoky kind of petroleum, incapable of spreading light. The universities and colleges, on the other hand, although they may leave you less efficient for this or that practical task, suffuse your whole mentality with something more important than skill. They redeem you, make you well-bred; they make good company of you mentally. If they find you with a naturally boorish or caddish mind, they cannot leave you so, as a technical school may leave you. This, at least, is pretended; this is what we hear among college-trained people when they compare their education with every other sort. Now, exactly how much does this signify?

It is certain, to begin with, that the narrowest trade or professional training does something more for a man than to make a skilful practical tool of him t makes him also a judge of other men's skill. Whether his trade be pleading at the bar or surgery or plastering or plumbing, it develops a critical sense in him for that sort of occupation. He understands the difference between second-rate and first-rate work in his whole branch of industry; he gets to know a good job in his own line as soon as he sees it; and getting to know this in his own line, he gets a faint sense of what good work may mean anyhow, that may, if circumstances favor, spread into his judgments elsewhere. Sound work, clean work, finished work; feeble work, slack work, sham work hese words express an identical contrast in many different departments of activity. In so far forth, then, even the humblest manual trade may beget in one a certain small degree of power to judge of good work generally.

Now, what is supposed to be the line of us who have the higher college training? Is there any broader line ince our education claims primarily not to be narrow n which we also are made good judges between what is first-rate and what is second-rate only? What is especially taught in the colleges has long been known by the name of the humanities, and these are often identified with Greek and Latin. But it is only as literatures, not as languages, that Greek and Latin have any general humanity-value; so that in a broad sense the humanities mean literature primarily, and in a still broader sense the study of masterpieces in almost any field of human endeavor. Literature keeps the primacy; for it not only consists of masterpieces but is largely about masterpieces, being little more than an appreciative chronicle of human master-strokes, so far as it takes the form of criticism and history. You can give humanistic value to almost anything by reaching it historically. Geology, economics, mechanics, are humanities when taught with reference to the successive achievements of the geniuses to which these sciences owe their being. Not taught thus, literature remains grammar, art a catalogue, history a list of dates, and natural science a sheet of formulas and weights and measures.

The sifting of human creations! othing less than this is what we ought to mean by the humanities. Essentially this means biography; what our colleges should teach is, therefore, biographical history, that not of politics merely, but of anything and everything so far as human efforts and conquests are factors that have played their part. Studying in this way, we learn what types of activity have stood the test of time; we acquire standards of the excellent and durable. All our arts and sciences and institutions are but so many quests of perfection on the part of men; and when we see how diverse the types of excellence may be, how various the tests, how flexible the adaptations, we gain a richer sense of what the terms better and worse may signify in general. Our critical sensibilities grow both more acute and less fanatical. We sympathize with men's mistakes even in the act of penetrating them; we feel the pathos of lost causes and misguided epochs even while we applaud what overcame them.

Such words are vague and such ideas are inadequate, but their meaning is unmistakable. What the colleges eaching humanities by examples which may be special, but which must be typical and pregnant hould at least try to give us, is a general sense of what, under various disguises, superiority has always signified and may still signify. The feeling for a good human job anywhere, the admiration of the really admirable the disesteem of what is cheap and trashy and impermanent his is what we call the critical sense, the sense for ideal values. It is the better part of what men know as wisdom. Some of us are wise in this way naturally and by genius; some of us never become so. But to have spent one's youth at college, in contact with the choice and rare and precious, and yet still to be a blind prig or vulgarian, unable to scent out human excellence or to divine it amid its accidents, to know it only when ticketed and labeled and forced on us by others, this indeed should be accounted the very calamity and shipwreck of a higher education.
